Who We Are
The Executive Council on Diplomacy (ECD) is an educational forum offered as a national public service by the U.S. private sector.
ECD’s mission is to provide opportunities for foreign diplomats and Americans to share ideas and foster understanding of their respective countries’ institutions, policies and cultures. Its programs help participants learn together about current and future issues that will change the world.
Lecture and discussion programs in Washington help foreign diplomats understand the American political and economic system. Travel programs outside Washington give diplomats the opportunity to know America’s history, culture and people. The Council also works with the U.S. Department of State to provide practical training for Foreign Service Officers through the Lawrence S. Eagleburger Fellowship/Corporate Training Assignment Program.
Established in 1962, the Council is a non-profit tax-exempt organization located in Washington, D.C.
